Upper River Services is committed to providing quality services to the inland marine transportation industry in a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient manner.

OUR HISTORY

Over 40 Years of Experience Servicing the Upper Mississippi

Established in 1984, Upper River Services has strived to become a premier commercial river harbor operation, while, at the same time, recognizing its responsibility as a member of the overall river community. The result is a business with an economically solid foundation that protects and enhances, where and when it can, the ecosystem in which it exists.

PBS DOCUMENTARY: CURRENT STATE OF OUR WORKING RIVER

Called ‘silent giants’ barges carry millions of tons of commodities through St. Paul on the Mississippi River. The river provides both jobs and an environmentally friendly option to move goods without adding trains to tracks, or trucks to roads. For the benefits provided by river shipping the need for investment to maintain river infrastructure is continuous. Produced with St. Paul Port Authority.
